TwentyQuestions Terms of Use
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of TwentyQuestions (“Twenty Questions: Emoji”, the “app”), published by Alexandru Struta, an individual developer (the “developer”, “we”, “us”). By downloading or using the app you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. The app
TwentyQuestions is an emoji guessing game. The server secretly picks an emoji; you ask yes/no questions from a fixed list and make guesses within a limited number of moves. The app includes a daily puzzle, practice games, games against a bot, friend competitions and challenges, live races, a Weekly League and a Weekend Cup. Some modes, hints and extra practice games use in-app credits. Features may change, be added or be removed over time.
2. Permitted use
You may use the app for personal, non-commercial entertainment, in line with these Terms and the law. The game itself is suitable for all ages. Signing in with an Apple or Google account, competitions and prizes are for people aged 13 or over; if you are below the age of majority where you live, you need a parent's or guardian's permission to use those features and to make purchases.
3. Accounts
- You can play as a guest. A guest uses an anonymous account that is deleted when the guest signs out, or automatically after 90 days without use, and cannot be recovered afterwards.
- You can sign in with Apple or Google. Competitions, buying credits and paid hints require a signed-in account. You are responsible for the security of your Apple or Google account and for what happens through it.
- One account per person. Do not share an account or play for someone else in a competition.
- You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → Delete account). Deleting it permanently removes your data and any remaining credits, as described in the Privacy Policy.
4. User content
You can choose a display name and the name of a competition you create. Other players can see them. You are responsible for them: they must not be unlawful, offensive, hateful, sexually explicit, misleading, or infringe anyone's rights, and must not impersonate others or contain personal information you do not want shown. By choosing a name you give us permission to store and display it within the app. Names are filtered when you save them, and any player can report another player's name (press and hold the name on a leaderboard or race list, then tap Report). We review reports and may reject, change or remove names and competitions, and restrict accounts, that break these Terms. You can also email us about a name. You cannot upload files, text or media beyond these names.
5. Multiplayer features
Competitions, races, leagues and cups compare your results with other players' results. Rankings are decided by our server using moves (including hints), time and who finished first. Our decisions on results are final. The official rules of the Weekly League and the Weekend Cup are shown in the app (Profile → Official rules) and apply to those events.
6. Credits and purchases
- Credits are a virtual in-app item that you can buy through Apple's in-app purchase system in packs, and may win as prizes. They are used for hints and extra practice games.
- Credits have no cash value, never expire, cannot be transferred between accounts, cannot be exchanged for money and can only be used in this app. They are lost if you delete your account.
- Purchases are charged to your Apple account at the price shown by Apple at checkout, which may be in your local currency and may include taxes. There are no subscriptions and no free trials.
- Refunds. Payments are handled by Apple, so refund requests are decided by Apple under its rules (see reportaproblem.apple.com). If Apple refunds a purchase, the credits it added may be removed from your balance.
- Playing without credits is possible: every mode can be played for free, and the first hint is free.
7. Prohibited behavior
You must not: use bots, scripts or other automation; exploit bugs; look for or share secret answers or hints (including by attacking or reverse-engineering the app or server); use more than one account to gain an advantage; interfere with the app, the servers or other players' enjoyment; attempt unauthorized access; or use the app for any unlawful purpose. We may remove results and prizes, and suspend or end accounts, for these actions.
8. Intellectual property
The app, including its software, design, question and hint texts and branding, belongs to the developer and is protected by intellectual-property laws. Emoji images are provided by Apple's operating system and belong to their owners. These Terms give you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable right to use the app; they do not transfer any ownership.
9. Availability
The app depends on our server and on third-party services (see the Privacy Policy). We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free service. We may pause, change or end the app or any competition, for example because of technical problems, cheating or other things outside our control, and we will try to tell players in the app when we do.
10. Termination
You can stop using the app and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms or misuse the service, subject to applicable law.
11. Disclaimers
To the extent permitted by law, the app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have as a consumer under mandatory law.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, credits or profits, arising from your use of or inability to use the app. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, such as liability for intentional harm or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
13. Apple App Store terms
If you got the app from Apple's App Store, these Terms are between you and the developer, not Apple. Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies to the app and supplements these Terms; if they conflict, that agreement prevails for the matters it covers. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app, and is not responsible for claims relating to it; Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of the Standard EULA. Apple is not a sponsor of, and has no involvement in, the competitions in the app.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms when the app or legal requirements change. The current version is published on this page with a new “Last updated” date. If you keep using the app after a change, you accept the updated Terms.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws that apply where the developer is established, without limiting any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have in your country of residence.
